by the breeze of the ocean
COMO Hotels and Resorts, with properties from Miami Beach to Bhutan, opens its fourteenth property: a new oceanside resort in Bali, COMO Uma Canggu
After the successful ownership and management of COMO Uma Ubud and COMO Shambhala, COMO Hotels and Resorts will open their new property in Canggu this February. COMO Uma Canggu nestled in a waterfront area which is directly overlooking the ocean, giving the guest the different pairing, with activity focused around the beach and sea, and culture around Canggu’s village life with its Hindu shrines, shops and local eateries, whilst the older resorts in Ubud provide the outdoor experiences and cultural encounters, from rice-paddy hikes to temple visits, designed to enrich and inspire quality of life.
Albeit located in the same coastal line with Kuta, Canggu is truly a different area that has retained its authentic Indonesian character where other coastal strips have lost their identity to international tourism. Overlooking the Indian Ocean in which it made one of Bali’s best surf breaks directly in front of the resort, Canggu is backing up a six-mile-long beach and also offering the preserved natural landscape such as rice paddies that is second to none to other coastal-tourism area in Bali. Tourists don’t have to be worried about finding a bustle life whilst staying in Canggu area, as COMO Uma Canggu might just be seven miles from the bustle of Seminyak, but it feels a world apart, with an authentic emphasis on active living, healthy eating, and good times with family and friends.
COMO Uma Canggu occupies more than two acres of ground, and has been designed to COMO’s highest principles of sophisticated living, with 119 contemporary rooms, suites, one- and two-bedroom residences, as well as three-bedroom duplex penthouses featuring individual rooftop pools. The aesthetic breaks new ground for beachside Bali, combining modern Asian and Italian touches created by interior designers Koichiro Ikebuchi and Paola Navone.
The guests can also enjoy the world-class dining that will be available at the social heart of the resort, COMO Beach Club. Menus will rely on locally sourced ingredients from across the island, with a focus on ‘New World cuisine’. A charcoal grill, used for meat, seafood and vegetables, will impart rich, smoky flavours. Healthy and energising COMO Shambhala Cuisine will also be available here.
Those who seeking wellness will be catered for at the new COMO Shambhala Retreat, with seven treatments rooms, which comprises of five single room and two double room. As well as Asian-inspired therapies – including the signature of COMO Shambhala Massage – there will be yoga and Pilates classes available for hotel guests and the local community, as well as personal training in the gym.
As mentioned above, which the surf breaks directly in front of the resort, it becomes the major aspect of COMO Uma Canggu that will be the spectacular surf opportunities. COMO Uma Canggu also offers the luxury surfing concept, in partnership with Tropicsurf, will appeal to beginners and also those with experience. Veteran surfers will be satisfied with the large waves found to the right of COMO Uma Canggu, while novices can learn the foundations under an expert eye on calmer rides.
Away from the waves, there are another activities will also be offered by COMO Uma Canggu: a range of cultural and adventure activities across southern and central Bali, including guided temple visits by the sea, jungle trekking, canoeing expeditions and traditional village walks.
Lastly, speaking about the man behind the gun, Javier Beneyto is the appointed pre-opening General Manager of COMO Uma Canggu, having demonstrated his exceptional skills with the successful opening of COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach three years ago, believed that he will drive COMO Uma Canggu into one of the greatest resort in Bali that deliver the utmost satisfaction to its guests.
